5-Day Guizhou Miao and Dong Village Private Tour
Overview
Follow a cultural route through eastern Guizhou from Guiyang to Kaili, Xijiang, Rongjiang, Huanggang and Zhaoxing. This five-day, four-night private journey includes a batik activity and several distinct village settings. It gives more attention to Miao and Dong communities than the waterfall-and-Libo itinerary, while retaining regular road transfers and changes of accommodation.
The base arrangement uses a Chinese-speaking driver. It does not include an English-speaking sightseeing guide or interpreter. Request a separately arranged guided version if language support is essential to the cultural experience. Cover image: an illustrative Dong village setting, not a photograph of a booked property or a record of a visit.
Choose this programme for village architecture and batik rather than waterfall and forest-pool visits. Compare the five-day Huangguoshu, Libo and Xijiang route if nature is your priority. This village journey changes overnight base each night.
Your journey at a glance
| Day | Main sequence | Overnight |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Arrive in Guiyang; transfer and independent time | Guiyang |
| 2 | Guiyang → Xianglu Mountain near Kaili → Xijiang | Xijiang |
| 3 | Xijiang village and batik → Rongjiang | Rongjiang |
| 4 | Football-venue exterior → Dali or Zaidang → Huanggang | Liping |
| 5 | Zhaoxing Dong Village → Guiyang departure transfer | None |
How this differs from the classic scenery route
Choose this journey when village settings, buildings and craft activity matter more than visiting Huangguoshu and Libo. It does not include those two nature areas. The trip has four overnight bases, so it is not a stay-in-one-village holiday. Travellers who want slower conversations and fewer hotel changes should ask to remove a stop and add nights before confirming the programme.
Accommodation, meals and included services
| Item | Base arrangement | What needs a separate arrangement |

| Meals | Four adult breakfasts | Lunches, dinners and children’s meals |
| Road travel | Private vehicle and Chinese-speaking driver for the agreed five-day programme, with listed Guiyang arrival and departure transfers | Independent free-time transport and unagreed route extensions |
| Visits and craft | Listed adult admissions at Xianglu Mountain, Xijiang and Zhaoxing; listed Xijiang and Zhaoxing scenic transport; scheduled batik activity | Optional paid activities, match tickets and extra performances |
| Language | Chinese-speaking driver service | A sightseeing guide and English interpretation |
Hotel categories in the route are not a promise of a particular international star rating, brand, room view or village property. The dated proposal names the accommodation and room arrangement. Children’s meals and bed entitlement differ from adults. The workshop’s local assistance and the road driver have different roles; neither should be read as a promise of English cultural interpretation.
Village access and respectful visits
Village lanes, slopes and steps affect access with suitcases or a pushchair. Share mobility needs before booking, and use a small overnight bag where a road vehicle cannot reach the door. Public village spaces are different from private homes. Invitations, ceremonies and performances depend on local arrangements and must not be assumed from the village name alone.
Bring the original travel document used for hotel and ticket bookings. State nationality and document type when requesting the trip so the selected hotels and ticket procedures can be arranged for your party. Share halal food, allergies and prayer requirements explicitly; the ordinary breakfast and meal arrangement does not establish a halal catering service.
Timing and the final connection
The final day combines Zhaoxing sightseeing and the return drive to Guiyang. Do not select an early train or flight on the strength of the five-day label alone. Weather, road conditions, local access and the group’s walking pace can affect the day. Keep the airport or station transfer in the dated plan, with enough time for departure procedures.

Daily Itinerary
Arrive at the agreed Guiyang airport or railway station and take the arranged transfer to your hotel. Keep the arrival day flexible. The Guizhou Ethnic Museum can be considered as an independent visit when reservations, opening arrangements and your arrival time fit; museum admission booking and free-time transport are not an included guided excursion.
Meet the road arrangements for the following morning and discuss any walking, food or luggage needs. Overnight in Guiyang. Meals are at your own expense.
Travel from Guiyang towards Kaili and visit Xianglu Mountain before continuing to Xijiang. Agree on a walking route that matches your fitness and the open visitor paths. This is sightseeing with a Chinese-speaking driver, not a mountain trek led by an English-speaking guide.
Continue to Xijiang for the village overnight. Local transport and stone lanes affect access to the guesthouse, so carry the essentials in a smaller bag. Use the evening for your own village walk and dinner. Overnight in Xijiang; adult breakfast is included, while lunch and dinner are separate.

Spend the morning in Xijiang, combining village walks with the scheduled batik activity. The listed workshop is about one hour and uses a small cloth piece that participants can keep. Activity assistance does not establish English-language teaching; request interpretation separately if you need a detailed cultural discussion.
Leave time for lanes, public viewpoints and the chosen visitor route rather than expecting every corner of the village. Continue to Rongjiang after the visit and settle into the hotel. Adult breakfast is included; lunch and dinner are separate.
Make a short exterior stop at the Rongjiang village-football venue, then visit either Dali Dong Village or Zaidang Dong Village. These are alternatives within the day; both are not included together. Continue to Huanggang Dong Village before the overnight in Liping.
The football stop is a landmark visit, not a match ticket or a guarantee of a live game. No festival, singing performance, private home visit or banquet is automatically promised in the villages. Ask permission before close photographs of people and respect local use of shared spaces. Adult breakfast is included; other meals are separate.
Visit Zhaoxing in the morning, using the arranged scenic transport and walking through public village lanes. Timber buildings and drum-tower settings provide another perspective on Dong village life after Rongjiang and Huanggang. Allow time for the visit as well as the road journey back to Guiyang.
Finish at the agreed Guiyang airport or railway station transfer point. The return happens after the village visit, so an early departure is unsuitable. Agree on the connection before buying onward tickets, or add a Guiyang night. No fifth hotel night is included. Adult breakfast is included; lunch and dinner are separate.
