Choose a central Guiyang hotel for independent city evenings, or a station-oriented stay for a short night before a specific train. Then use any spare city day for a manageable combination of a park, a museum or the Jiaxiu–Qingyun area. Huangguoshu, Libo and Xijiang are separate excursions with their own transfers; they are not extra neighbourhood stops to fit around hotel checkout.
Guiyang is the capital of Guizhou and a useful arrival and departure gateway. A good city base helps the wider journey, but the right hotel depends on what you will actually do between transfers. Make the room, luggage and departure decisions together.

Choose the hotel around the time you will spend in the city

Do not change hotels just to shorten one transfer if doing so creates a difficult checkout and bag move. For two scenic return days, keeping the same room can be convenient. If the journey becomes a circuit through Libo or the villages, city storage and the later return night need a separate arrangement.
Ask for the specific room category, twin or double beds, bathroom, heating or cooling and the position relative to a busy road or public area. A high-floor photograph does not establish the view, sound level or layout of the room you book. With children, settle bed occupancy and breakfast rather than assuming every extra guest is included.
Stations and airport: use the name on your own ticket
Guiyang, Guiyang North and Guiyang East railway stations are different places. Longdongbao Airport is another transfer point. Choose the exact dated service first, then arrange the journey between that point and the hotel. Do not send a driver only the word “Guiyang” or follow another traveller’s station screenshot.

China Railway’s official English FAQ explains eligible foreign-passport travel and the requirement to carry the original booking document. Check current trains, fares and seats in the official booking channel for your date. This guide does not quote a past traveller’s fare as a current ticket price.
Keep the hotel’s Chinese address and receiving contact offline. If a taxi or ride booking uses a translated name, compare the actual map pin with the address. Allow for bags, finding the meeting point and the station or airport’s check-in process; a map’s driving estimate is only part of the transfer.

Choose one main visit and an optional second stop instead of assuming all three plans fit equally well. A museum visit, a mountain-park walk and a long dinner each need usable time. On an arrival day, keep only what still works after the actual transfer and check-in.
Guiyang’s municipal visitor information places Qingyun Market and Jiaxiu Pavilion among Nanming’s city attractions. A riverside view and entrance to a historic building are different experiences. Check the current interior access before making it essential to the day.
Qianling: reservation and wildlife need separate attention
The park’s April 2026 booking notice names its official account and the Guikehui platform for real-name reservations. Use the current official channel and establish the process for your passport type. If a form only offers a Chinese identity-card field, ask the park for the appropriate procedure instead of entering an invented number.
The park management’s safety notice tells visitors to keep a safe distance from macaques and avoid feeding, teasing or close contact. Do not copy an old photo of a visitor offering food. Keep children close, protect belongings and follow staff instructions.
Decide how much climbing the party wants. A cableway, boat or other paid service is a separate component, and its existence does not make every park path step-free. Tell a guide about knee, balance, wheelchair or pushchair needs before choosing the route.
Museum plans need a dated reservation
Use the Guizhou Provincial Museum’s official account or supported reservation channel and check the notice for the actual date. The museum’s 2026 summer announcement separates its temporary extended season from the normal schedule. Do not apply July and August late opening to an October visit.
Ask which original documents the party should bring and how an overseas passport is entered if the online form is unclear. A free general visit can still require a reservation; a special exhibition or paid experience may have its own entitlement. An indoor alternative only works if its opening and booking fit the day.
Food browsing without turning dinner into a queue
Pick the meal around the party’s needs before choosing a fashionable venue. If children need to eat promptly or a traveller needs a specific preparation, keep an alternative rather than depending on one popular restaurant. A busy market can be useful for browsing, but a queue is not part of a timed sightseeing reservation.
Discuss spice, allergies and ingredients in concrete terms. For halal requirements, ask about preparation and the actual kitchen; beef, vegetables or the absence of visible pork does not establish halal food. An ordinary hotel breakfast is not automatically halal-certified. Agree prayer breaks and suitable private space without assuming every venue has a dedicated room.
If a QR menu or payment screen does not work on your phone, ask whether staff can take the order and payment through another supported channel. Save the hotel and meeting contact so an interrupted app does not leave you without the return address.
Luggage, checkout and a final city afternoon
Ask the hotel whether it can hold bags after checkout, when you can collect them and which items it accepts. Keep passports, valuables, medicine and the day’s necessities with you. Storage is a separate agreement, and a late checkout is not automatic because you have an evening flight.
For a final city visit, plan backwards from the actual departure and bag collection. Choose one nearby activity with a clear finish rather than adding a distant suburban attraction. A private vehicle has its own service period; extra hours, another meeting point or luggage transport may change the arrangement.
