Daily Itinerary
Meet at Xishuangbanna airport or the agreed railway station and transfer to your Jinghong hotel. Rest before a short riverside walk in the cooler evening if your arrival allows. The first day does not depend on reaching a distant attraction. Your guide confirms food preferences, the next morning’s meeting time and how much walking you would like in the tropical climate.
Overnight: Jinghong. Travel and walking: Usually 30–60 minutes of local transfer, depending on the hotel.
Visit a tea-growing area on Nannuo Mountain with a prearranged host and guide. Follow a short permitted path between tea trees, then sit for a tasting that explains origin and preparation. Picking and processing depend on the season and the host’s work. Return after lunch or a second short village stop, avoiding a long list of tea shops and any obligation to buy.
Overnight: Jinghong. Travel and walking: Allow around 2–3 hours of road travel in total, plus a relaxed farm visit.
Travel to Menghai for a prearranged tasting chosen to add a different perspective from Nannuo. Ask about processing and storage, then enjoy lunch before a short accessible tea-landscape stop. Stay in Menghai overnight so the day has time for conversation rather than an immediate return drive. A factory visit is included only if a named facility has agreed to receive visitors.
Overnight: Menghai. Travel and walking: Jinghong to Menghai: allow around 1.5–2 hours, plus local stops.
Leave Menghai after breakfast and travel towards Menglun, with a lunch and comfort stop. Check in and enjoy a short walk near the accommodation rather than trying to cover the botanical garden after a road transfer. This overnight base makes tomorrow’s garden visit calmer and avoids an early drive from Jinghong. Confirm dinner options with the hotel, as choices vary outside the city.
Overnight: Menglun. Travel and walking: Allow around 3–4 hours of road travel with breaks.
Spend the day at Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, selecting a manageable circuit of publicly open collections. Use available official transport when helpful and pause for shade, water and lunch. Your guide connects the plants with the local environment without promising access to research areas. Seasonal flowers and water lilies vary; the garden is rewarding for its range of plants, not a guaranteed single display.
Overnight: Menglun. Travel and walking: Short local transfer; garden walking in sections with transport and rest options.
Take a guided morning route in a publicly open forest section or suitable visitor trail, chosen for current access and weather. Keep the walking moderate, with time to notice roots, leaves and forest structure. After lunch, return to Jinghong and settle into your hotel. This is a permitted nature outing, not an unsupported trek into a protected core area or a promise of wildlife encounters.
Overnight: Jinghong. Travel and walking: Allow 1.5–2 hours for the return drive plus local access; 1–2 hours of optional walking.
Transfer to Xishuangbanna airport or the agreed railway station after breakfast at the appropriate time. The final night is in Jinghong so departure does not begin with a long rural drive. Confirm the actual train or flight, the meeting point and the carrier’s check-in margin in advance. Any cross-border continuation is a separate arrangement and not part of this domestic itinerary.
