Dali Canghai Golf Club, also called Dali Stone Mountain, suits a Dali stay with one planned round and time away from the course. Choose a hotel around the old town or Cangshan foothills for a golf-focused visit. Keep arrival, golf, sightseeing and departure on separate days when you can: four days and three nights give you one main golf day and one flexible local day.
The important distinction is between a local Dali break and a journey across Yunnan. Canghai is one stop in a longer itinerary; adding Kunming or Lijiang brings another hotel move, equipment transfer and course reservation. This guide concentrates on making the Dali stop work.

One club, two names: Canghai and Stone Mountain
Use Dali Canghai / Dali Stone Mountain — 大理苍海高尔夫球会 together on the request. These names refer to the same club near the Cangshan foothills and Three Pagodas area. They are not two rounds at different Dali clubs. The local Play Yunnan Golf course profile publishes an 18-hole course and an October 2026 scorecard labelled par 71; other listings still say par 72. Ask for the card and operating layout that apply to your visit rather than building a competition around an old directory entry.
Send the accepted clubhouse pin to your driver. A resort entrance, a nearby hotel and the Three Pagodas visitor entrance are different meeting points. For a wider shortlist of places to play, compare the Yunnan golf-course guide before deciding how many cities to include.
Does a visiting overseas golfer need membership?
International visitor enquiries are offered by Play Yunnan Golf, while Golfasian describes arranging visiting golfers’ tee times. This supports planning an overseas visitor round; it does not establish a walk-in entitlement, a reserved slot or Vero Trip’s confirmed arrangements for your dates.
Provide the playing date, number of golfers, preferred start period and rental needs first. Ask which identification and any handicap information the club requires. The written acceptance should identify the actual course, tee time and visitor conditions. Keep passport information within the normal secure booking process; never substitute an invented Chinese identity number for an overseas visitor.
Choose your Dali hotel base before arranging pickup
The best base depends on how the whole party spends its time. Tell the planner the actual hotel address, not only “Dali.” A lakeside photograph cannot tell you which side of Erhai the property occupies or whether your luggage can reach its front door.
| Base | Best fit | Practical consequence |
|---|---|---|
| Old-town edge or Cangshan foothills | A main golf day plus independent old-town meals and walks. | Ask about the vehicle-accessible entrance, steps and noise. A lane-side room can involve carrying the club bag from the drop-off. |
| Erhai lakeshore | A group prioritising lake time as well as the round. | Confirm the exact shore and road transfer. Keep the same hotel for three nights if the room and course arrangements suit. |
| Xiaguan / station-side city stay | A late arrival or an early onward transport commitment. | Keep the station convenience, but budget a separate course transfer. Do not change hotels just to save one short arrival task. |
For rooms, prioritise an accessible luggage route, enough floor space for packed clubs, reliable heating or cooling for your dates and a breakfast arrangement that fits the tee time. A small courtyard property and a large resort have different access patterns. Request foreign-passport check-in confirmation for the selected property and room, without assuming that a scenic location settles the question.
Four days and three nights: one round, one flexible day
This is a suggested local structure, with all three nights at the same Dali hotel. It gives a golfer and a non-playing partner shared time without requiring the partner to spend a full day waiting at the clubhouse. Three calendar days can work with suitable transport and a confirmed middle-day round, but leave less room for disruption.
| Day | Main plan | Keep this boundary |
|---|---|---|
| 1 — arrive; Dali night 1 | Meet at the actual railway station or airport, settle in and take a short old-town walk if time permits. | Keep clubs packed during the arrival transfer. A delayed arrival should not cost an already paid round. |
| 2 — golf; Dali night 2 | Requested 18-hole round at Canghai, with registration, equipment collection and warm-up before tee-off. | Return to the same hotel after the round. Leave the later meal flexible instead of attaching a timed attraction ticket. |
| 3 — culture or reserve; Dali night 3 | Choose old-town streets and a separate Three Pagodas visit, or a lighter hotel-and-cafe day. | A replacement round needs fresh course acceptance and agreement about any additional charge; this is not an automatic weather guarantee. |
| 4 — depart | Retrieve every bag, check the vehicle load and leave for the booked station or airport. | Avoid a departure-day round when it would leave no useful margin for a slow game, equipment return or traffic. |
If two rounds matter more than sightseeing, request both explicitly before reducing the cultural day. Playing the same club again can be enjoyable, but do not describe Canghai and Stone Mountain as two separate course experiences. Keep a companion’s interests in the decision about the second day.
What makes the round different?
The course profile highlights changing slopes, wooded stretches, downhill lake views and an uphill finish. Its illustrated 13th hole is a downhill par 5 with coloured bunkers; the 9th and 18th climb. This is useful course context, rather than a promise about visibility, bunker condition or the setup on your playing date.
Choose a tee from which your ordinary approach distances remain comfortable. A long downhill hole can still take several controlled shots; a shorter uphill hole can need more club than its printed distance suggests. Use the day’s card, your warm-up and the caddie’s local advice. Avoid applying one fixed percentage increase to every shot because you are playing in Yunnan.
Be specific about physical needs. Discuss the amount of walking between cart stops, slopes around greens and any step-free access needed at the clubhouse. A shared buggy does not provide door-to-door access to every part of the course. If playing conditions or your energy are unsuitable, shortening or foregoing the round is a better planning choice than protecting the original schedule at all costs.
A golf day needs more than a tee time
Work backwards from the accepted start. Leave room for hotel collection, club check-in, changing, rental fitting and practice. Do not turn that into a universal pickup time: the hotel location and the club’s requirements decide the actual morning. Agree who to call if the flight, train or transfer is delayed.
For the return, agree a flexible collection window and a clear clubhouse meeting point. After the last hole you may still need to settle personal purchases, return rentals and repack. A driver booked for a fixed short wait can leave you paying an additional waiting charge. Decide whether the clubs return to the hotel or remain in an agreed storage arrangement; neither should be assumed.
Bring clubs or request a rental set?
Bringing your own set gives familiar equipment, but changes every transfer. Count people, suitcases and packed golf bags together when choosing the vehicle. Give bag dimensions as well as the number of sets. For a railway or flight leg, check the actual carrier’s current sporting-equipment rules before buying the ticket; a transfer vehicle accepting your bag does not establish railway or airline acceptance.
If renting, request handedness, shaft flex and the type of set you need. Ask for the rental price and confirmation of an appropriate set, rather than interpreting a website’s zero-price placeholder as free equipment. Shoes, balls and gloves should be considered separately. Keep essentials and valuables with you instead of leaving them in a bag that may be stored or loaded separately.
What can companions do while golfers play?
For a simple independent day, choose a manageable part of Dali Old Town’s public streets, a seated meal and a return to the hotel. An ambitious circuit around the lake needs its own transport plan; the golf driver cannot be in two places at once. Agree the meeting location and keep enough flexibility for the round to finish later than expected.
For a shared cultural day, the Dali city government’s Three Pagodas introduction places the landmark northwest of the old town. Choose that visit for its pagodas and temple setting, with its own admission and current visitor arrangements. Give it a dedicated walking period rather than assuming it fits into the gap before tee-off. Decide how much of the grounds to cover according to the group’s energy.
Companion entry to a golf resort, a seat in a cart and a clubhouse meal are separate questions. A non-golfer’s place on the holiday does not automatically grant course access. If the group separates, specify each traveller’s transport, meal arrangements and return to the hotel in the proposal.
Wind, rain and a useful alternative day
Check the local wind and rain forecast near departure and again before play. Pack a practical outer layer, sun protection and rainwear; keep a dry change available at the hotel. A clear morning photograph is not evidence that every afternoon on the mountain-facing course will have the same conditions.
If the club closes or interrupts play, follow its instructions and ask how the booked round is handled. A personal decision not to start, a closure before starting and an interruption after several holes may have different financial terms. Get those distinctions in writing before payment.
Use a genuinely lighter alternative: a shorter old-town visit with indoor breaks, or time at the hotel. Avoid making a mountain cableway trip the compulsory replacement for poor golf weather. The spare day in this outline protects flexibility; it does not create a second reservation or guarantee that bad weather ends by the following morning.
How much should you budget?
Price on request. Ask for the complete Dali arrangement for your dates and party. Published third-party green fees and their inclusions belong to that seller’s offer; they are not confirmation of a Vero Trip package. Compare quotations on the same number of rounds, room nights, passengers and bags.
| Cost item | Specify in writing | Common decision |
|---|---|---|
| Round and club charges | Named course, date, tee time, green fee, caddie fee, cart sharing, locker and any required on-site charge. | Check whether a private cart, companion access or additional practice is extra. Caddie language is not guaranteed by a caddie fee. |
| Equipment and gratuities | Suitable rental set, shoes if requested, deposits, damage terms and how gratuities are handled. | Budget these independently; do not treat a customary tip as a verified statutory admission fee. |
| Road transfers and hotel | Pickup addresses, return waiting allowance, bag capacity, three actual room nights and room category. | A course round does not automatically include the station transfer, hotel or breakfast. |
| Sightseeing and changes | Separate attraction admission, guide language if requested, cancellation and weather terms. | Meals, insurance, flights and rail tickets are included only if the written proposal says so. |
Continue to Kunming or Lijiang?
The eight-day Yunnan Golf & Snow Mountain Journey is a relevant wider comparison: it places Canghai in Dali after Spring City’s two courses, then continues to Lijiang and returns to Kunming. It is a different shape from the four-day local stay above. Request extra Dali nights or a separate Dali segment if that better matches the group’s priorities; a link to the tour does not confirm a modified package.
Use the Kunming–Dali–Lijiang golf route guide to compare the moving days. A return flight from Kunming requires that additional journey from Dali or Lijiang. Choose transport with useful connection margins and consider a final Kunming night if that is what your departure needs.
Questions before choosing your dates
Can I play on my arrival day?
Only consider it after reviewing the actual arrival and accepted tee time, including delays and bag collection. For a short leisure stay, keeping the first round on the following full day gives a more resilient plan.
Is this a two-course Dali holiday?
No. Canghai and the former Stone Mountain name identify the same club. A request for two rounds should state whether you want repeat play there or another separately verified destination with additional travel time.
Do I need to stay at the golf resort?
Choose the accommodation around your preferences and the accepted visitor booking conditions. An old-town-edge hotel can suit meals and companion time. Ask about resort accommodation if you prefer that arrangement; do not assume a hotel reservation itself includes golf.
How do I ask Vero Trip for a workable Dali plan?
Send your Dali golf brief to Vero Trip with travel dates, golfer and companion numbers, preferred rounds, usual playing level, club-rental needs and arrival and departure cities. Include room-access needs and the number of packed club bags so the written proposal connects the course request with the rest of the stay.
