Plan Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Golf Club as a dedicated Lijiang golf day, with time in town before the round and a return transfer afterwards. The setting is a high mountain valley, and altitude deserves as much thought as the tee time. Choose your overnight base, arrival pace and equipment arrangements before adding other activities.
Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Golf Club — 丽江玉龙雪山高尔夫俱乐部 — is the Lijiang course covered here. It is a different destination from Jade Dragon Bay in the wider Kunming area. Put the full club name and clubhouse entrance on the booking and transport request.

The course: understand the setting before the headline yardage
The course architect’s project profile identifies an 18-hole, par-72 course in a valley below Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. It lists 8,548 yards from the pro tees and an elevation above 10,000 feet. Those figures describe the design; they do not tell you which tees are appropriate for your round.
Ask for the current scorecard and the available tee choices when arranging play. The longest layout is a poor default for a visitor who wants an enjoyable holiday round. Explain your normal playing distance, experience and preferred pace, then choose with current local advice.
Thin air, wind and temperature can alter familiar distances. Use the warm-up to observe the day’s ball flight rather than applying a fixed percentage to every club. A downhill view, an uphill approach and a change in wind still require separate decisions. Do not let a famous total yardage determine the whole day.
Can international golfers visit?
There is recent firsthand evidence of international golfers playing here. In its September 2026 trip report, Singapore-based Tanah Merah Country Club describes members playing Jade Dragon Snow Mountain during a Yunnan visit. This is that club’s account, not a Vero Trip customer story or evidence of a tee time reserved for you.
For your own date, confirm visitor acceptance, the reservation process, any handicap or dress requirements, and how passport details should be supplied. Ask whether the booking needs a named local contact and what proof to show at arrival. A course appearing in a directory does not establish today’s availability or every visitor condition.
Altitude: leave space before the golf day
The same firsthand report places the course at approximately 3,100 metres and Lijiang town at around 2,400 metres. They are different elevations. A night in town does not mean you have already spent that night at the course’s altitude, and a buggy does not remove altitude exposure.
The CDC Yellow Book’s altitude guidance recommends gradual ascent and only mild exercise during the first 48 hours at altitude. Fitness does not prevent altitude illness. Discuss personal suitability with a clinician when relevant, especially if you have previously had difficulty at altitude.
New headache with nausea, dizziness or unusual fatigue after ascent is a reason to stop and seek advice rather than continue higher for a tee time. Worsening symptoms require descent and medical help. Breathlessness at rest or confusion needs urgent medical attention. A portable oxygen canister or a paid reservation is not a reason to keep playing through illness.
The schedule below leaves room before the round, but it is an editorial holiday outline, not medical clearance or a guarantee of acclimatisation. Keep the golf decision flexible if anyone is unwell. Extending the stay, changing the outing or choosing a different golf region can be the right decision.
A five-day, four-night Lijiang outline
This local stay gives one requested round its own day, with town time beforehand. It works for travellers who value the Lijiang setting more than collecting several different courses. Keep the same confirmed hotel for all four nights so equipment and companions have a clear base.
| Day and overnight | Suggested rhythm | The decision that matters |
|---|---|---|
| Day 1 — Lijiang, night 1 of 4 | Arrive, collect all luggage and clubs, check in and have an easy meal | Keep the day light; no arrival-day round or higher mountain excursion. |
| Day 2 — Lijiang, night 2 of 4 | Rest, with only a short, easy local outing if comfortable | Mild activity and individual response take priority over a sightseeing list. |
| Day 3 — Lijiang, night 3 of 4 | Flexible town day, equipment check and confirmation of the next day’s arrangements | Retain the option to delay or omit golf if the group is not ready. |
| Day 4 — Lijiang, night 4 of 4 | Requested Jade Dragon round, clubhouse pause and return to the same hotel | Use an accepted tee time, suitable tees and a clear return collection plan. |
| Day 5 — departure | Breakfast, check that clubs and luggage are complete, then transfer | Allow the full airport or station process; a return to Kunming is an additional journey. |
These are five calendar days and four hotel nights, with one proposed golf day. They are not five playable days or an advertised departure. If arriving after several days elsewhere in Yunnan, share the actual preceding itinerary so the Lijiang stay can be adjusted sensibly rather than shortened by assumption.
For a second round, add usable time and confirm a separate tee time. Do not turn the departure morning into a rushed extra round. Replaying the same course can suit someone who wants to understand it better; it is not a second distinct club or a substitute for a companion’s holiday.
Choose the bed for the golf morning and the evenings
A Lijiang town base can give non-golfers easier access to meals and old-town time. The morning still needs a road transfer to the clubhouse. Choose the hotel’s real vehicle-access point: a room inside a pedestrian lane can involve carrying cases and golf bags before the car journey begins.
A property marketed for mountain views may offer a very different setting and sleeping elevation. Check the exact address, elevation, room access, dinner arrangements and transfer to the club before choosing it. A shorter drive to golf should not be the only reason for moving to a higher overnight base.
Ask where clubs will be stored and who can access that storage. Check room heating or cooling, breakfast timing and whether an early collection can be supported on your date. A hotel category alone does not establish those details.
Getting to the clubhouse without confusing the bookings
Request the clubhouse map pin and the entrance procedure associated with the accepted round. Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is also a sightseeing destination; a scenic visitor-centre drop-off is not automatically the golf registration point.
Ask whether any scenic-area access or vehicle charge applies to your particular golf booking and whether it has been included. A green-fee quotation should make that answer explicit. Do not assume it also covers a mountain cableway, an attraction shuttle, a performance or a higher-altitude sightseeing excursion.
Set collection from the hotel against the club’s required arrival time and the current road allowance. Registration, changing, rental fitting and warm-up all take time before the tee. Give the driver the correct clubhouse destination and settle whether they wait or return for collection.
After play, allow time to finish, return rented equipment, collect belongings and have a pause before leaving. Tell a companion where and when the party will reunite. The end of the last hole and the moment everyone is ready for a vehicle are different points in the day.
Your clubs, rental clubs and the transfer vehicle
If bringing equipment, measure the packed travel cover and confirm its weight with the actual airline or other carrier before buying transport. The bag’s size, the route and the carrier’s current rules matter. An ordinary suitcase allowance is not evidence that a golf bag is accepted on the same basis.
For a rail connection, check the current rules and the full station handling process. Our guide to golf clubs on China’s trains explains the decisions to resolve. A separately arranged road movement of clubs needs its own provider, collection, delivery and responsibility terms; it is not automatic with a rail ticket.
For rentals, specify handedness, approximate shaft preference, set contents and any other essential requirement. Ask about golf shoes separately. A driving range having practice clubs does not establish that a suitable full set is reserved for your round.
Confirm the vehicle for the real combination of passengers, travel covers and ordinary luggage. A car advertised by seat count may not have enough space for four golfers’ equipment. Keep documents, medication and valuables with you, and photograph or list the bags at each handover.
Give non-golfers a complete Lijiang day
One workable choice is a relaxed old-town day: breakfast at the hotel, a selected public-street walk, lunch and café time, then an agreed reunion. Shorten the walk for uneven paving, steps or fatigue. The purpose is a pleasant independent day rather than waiting for a round to finish.
Another choice is to stay at the hotel and meet the golfers later. Confirm any desired facility or treatment directly; a resort photograph does not establish availability or inclusion. A companion should not be promised clubhouse access, a ride on the course or a place in a buggy without the club’s approval.
If the group prefers to stay together, make the previous or following day the shared local day. Give the companion transport, meal budget and a reliable contact method. Do not plan their return around a precise round duration that has not been confirmed.
Weather and a useful alternative day
Take layers, sun protection and light rain protection, and check the forecast for the mountain setting as well as town. Confirm the club’s interruption and closure procedure for the booked date. A weather forecast alone does not determine the applicable refund or rescheduling terms.
If play is moved or cancelled, use the extra day for rest or a modest local outing that is appropriate in the actual conditions. Do not automatically replace golf with a higher mountain excursion, particularly when altitude symptoms or severe weather are the reason for changing the plan.
Keep the final evening easy and leave the next morning for departure. For a flight from Kunming, account for the intercity journey, station transfer and airport process separately. If the connection leaves little margin, add a Kunming night or redesign the end of the trip.
What belongs in the quotation?
| Item | Ask the provider to name it | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| The round | Exact club, date, accepted tee time, tee choices and visitor requirements | A request for golf is different from a confirmed reservation. |
| Playing services | Green fee, cart sharing, caddie arrangement, locker and any access charges | A headline fee does not establish every required service or supplement. |
| Equipment and personal spending | Rental set, shoes, balls, food and any gratuity arrangements | Specify costs, availability and whether payment is per golfer or shared. |
| The travel day | Hotel pickup, equipment capacity, waiting, return point and any companion transfers | All members of the party need a complete transport plan. |
| Changes and support | Maintenance, interruption, illness, cancellation and insurance actually arranged | The written terms decide what happens if the planned round cannot proceed. |
Price on request. Send Vero Trip your dates, Lijiang hotel preference, group size, number of golfers, usual playing level and equipment needs. Include the preceding part of your trip and companion interests. The dated proposal should specify the actual price, provider arrangements, inclusions and exclusions; this guide confirms no available tee time, English-speaking caddie, guide, vehicle, hotel or insurance package.
Combining Lijiang with other Yunnan golf bases
If you want different courses rather than a single Lijiang stay, compare the Yunnan regional golf guide and the Kunming–Dali–Lijiang route planner. Kunming, Dali and Lijiang are separate overnight stages, with equipment handling and useful local time between them.
The existing eight-day Yunnan golf journey includes the Jade Dragon club within a wider Kunming–Dali–Lijiang route and returns to Kunming. It is a related itinerary to discuss, not the five-day local outline above. Ask for extra Lijiang nights or a revised playing day where needed, and verify all services in your own written proposal.
Questions before deciding
Is this the same as Jade Dragon Bay?
No. This guide concerns Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Golf Club in Lijiang. Jade Dragon Bay is in the Anning side of the wider Kunming area. Use the full club name and its Chinese name, not simply “Jade Dragon golf”.
Should I play on the day I fly into Lijiang?
Keep the arrival day light and allow time for the response to altitude. The holiday outline deliberately places the requested round later. The right timing depends on the preceding journey and the individual; reaching town on schedule does not establish readiness for the course.
Does a round include a snow-mountain sightseeing ticket?
Do not assume so. Ask which entrance or vehicle charges are part of the golf arrangement, and treat a cableway, performance or other attraction as a separate decision. A golf booking does not confirm every neighbouring activity.
Can a beginner or a non-playing companion join?
Ask the club about playing requirements and appropriate tee choices for a beginner. For a non-player, confirm any clubhouse or course access separately and arrange a complete alternative day if preferred. Neither a cart nor a companion’s hotel stay automatically provides course access.
