Plan Anshun Dragon Palace as a cave-and-water sightseeing day with a route chosen for the whole group. Boat travel is part of its appeal, but the visit also involves getting between visitor facilities, land paths and boarding points. Decide whether you want a shorter introduction or a longer circuit before linking it to another attraction.

The destination is 龙宫, also written Longgong, near Anshun in Guizhou. It is distinct from Huangguoshu Waterfall. Being in the same region does not make the two a single park or guarantee that both fit comfortably between arrival and departure trains.
Choose the experience, then the circuit
Guizhou Tourism Group describes Dragon Palace through its connected karst scenery: caves, underground water, cliffs and surface landscape. It names Wolong Bridge, Longmen Waterfall and Tianchi, alongside other areas such as Guanyin Cave and the cultivated dragon-character field. A map of all these places is a menu of possibilities, not a requirement to complete every stop.
| Priority | A sensible approach | Question to ask |
|---|---|---|
| Cave atmosphere | A confirmed operating cave-boat visit | Which sections run and where boarding occurs |
| Less walking | A shorter public circuit with agreed transport | Unavoidable steps and boarding requirements |
| More varied scenery | A longer combination of water and land sections | Open connections and the complete return effort |
| Photography | Selected surface scenery and permitted cave photographs | Boat rules, lighting and safe stopping places |
Ask staff to mark the actual operating route on the current visitor map. Establish whether each boat leg is return or one-way, and whether a walking link takes you to another boarding point. This is particularly useful when travelling with children or anyone who finds stairs difficult.
What a boat visit still asks of you
Boat-based does not mean step-free. Discuss the approach to the landing, any difference in height when boarding, seating and the walk after disembarking. Follow crew instructions, use the required life jacket and keep equipment secure instead of leaning out for a photograph.
Water conditions or maintenance can change the usable route. If a section is suspended, ask which alternatives remain and whether the revised visit still suits your priorities. Do not assume every photograph on the destination page represents a place reached by the same ticket or in the same direction.
Inside a cave, let your eyes adjust and follow the operator’s photography rules. Keep flash or a bright light from disturbing other passengers and do not touch mineral formations. Surface paths may also be wet, so retain the same careful footing after leaving the boat.
A day with a clear return plan
Begin from an Anshun-area hotel or another base with an agreed road transfer. At the visitor centre, confirm admission, transport components and the route before entering. Leave room for ticket checks and boat queues rather than calculating the outing solely from the advertised time on the water.
Use the middle of the day for the main visit and a meal break. Add an extra land section only if its walking demands, open connections and return transport are clear. If a shorter route gives the group the cave experience they wanted, finishing comfortably is a good result.
| Stage | Purpose | Keep flexible |
|---|---|---|
| Before leaving the hotel | Check conditions and the correct entrance | A fallback if water operations change |
| Arrival | Resolve documents and choose a circuit | Queue and orientation time |
| Main visit | Boat and land sections appropriate to the group | Rest, food and slow boarding |
| Departure | Return to the confirmed pickup | Road time before a fixed connection |
Combine attractions carefully
Dragon Palace and Huangguoshu offer different experiences. If both are important, separate usable days make it easier to account for weather, crowds and the effort of each visit. A one-day combination should be assessed against actual opening arrangements, road transfers and the group’s pace.
Likewise, a rail arrival and a rail departure on the same date leave less time than a full local sightseeing day. Include the hotel or station transfers, luggage, meals and a margin for delays. Do not ask a driver to recover an overfilled itinerary by rushing mountain roads.
Accommodation and ticket questions
An Anshun city base may simplify meals and onward travel. Accommodation closer to Longgong may reduce the morning journey, but confirm its precise location, room facilities, dinner and passport registration. A property near a scenic boundary is not necessarily beside the correct visitor entrance.
Ask for a breakdown of general admission, boats, internal vehicles and any other components relevant to the chosen circuit. Check current passport reservation and inspection procedures. Do not assume a domestic identity-card discount or an old promotional package applies to your documents.
If a weather change prevents the main boat experience, establish the operator’s ticket policy directly. A transport reservation and a scenic ticket may have different cancellation terms. A proposal from Vero Trip should state these components clearly rather than using a broad “all included” description.
What to bring
Wear shoes that grip wet surfaces, take a light outer layer and protect cameras and phones from splashes. Keep your hands available for boarding. Carry water and a small snack, especially when travelling with children, and avoid depending on a particular food outlet being open.
Questions visitors often ask
Can I avoid a long walk?
Ask for the shorter operating circuit and a precise description of unavoidable steps. Neither a boat ticket nor a vehicle ticket by itself establishes accessibility.
Is the cave an all-weather guarantee?
No. Underground sightseeing still depends on safe water conditions and operator decisions. Check before making the transfer.
How should I plan the wider Guizhou trip?
Start with our regional guide, then tell Vero Trip your Anshun dates and walking needs. A route proposal can then distinguish Longgong from the other destinations you want to include.
