When to travel
Designed around late-autumn ginkgo colour, often in November, with exact dates checked against current conditions. Golden leaves and clear weather cannot be guaranteed.

Daily Itinerary
Meet at Tengchong Tuofeng Airport and transfer to your chosen hotel in town or around Heshun. If you arrive early, take a brief orientation walk near the accommodation. Keep the evening free for dinner and rest. The itinerary does not require a same-day mountain outing, and a late arrival simply means going directly to the hotel.
Overnight: Tengchong or Heshun. Travel and walking: Airport transfer generally 30–60 minutes according to the hotel.
Follow a quieter Heshun route with a guide, pausing at a courtyard and a small craft workspace when a host has agreed to receive visitors. Focus on materials, architecture and everyday use rather than a promised performance. After lunch, spend time over tea and leave the afternoon open for independent browsing. Hands-on activities are confirmed separately so the visit does not depend on finding a workshop open by chance.
Overnight: Tengchong or Heshun. Travel and walking: Local transfers; slow walks on stone lanes with frequent rests.
Travel to Jiangdong for a day focused on the ginkgo trees and village courtyards. Walk beyond the first busy lane where access allows, and use a long lunch break before returning to photography in softer light. Leaf colour changes with the season and weather, so this day is confirmed around actual conditions. Private courtyards are entered only with permission; residents are not expected to stage scenes.
Overnight: Tengchong or Heshun. Travel and walking: Allow 1.5–2 hours of total driving, longer during the autumn peak.
Use a second flexible day for the ginkgo village when colour and weather justify returning, choosing different lanes and courtyard details from the first visit. If the leaves have passed or conditions are poor, your guide suggests a Heshun or countryside photography outing instead. Break for lunch and rest between sessions. No resident is asked to stage a scene, and private courtyards require permission.
Overnight: Tengchong or Heshun. Travel and walking: Allow 1.5–2 hours of total road travel if returning to Jiangdong, longer in peak traffic.
Visit Beihai in the morning and explore the open-water and reed landscape from the official paths. Use a boat only if it is operating, suitable for your group and included in your confirmed plan. Take lunch at an unhurried pace, then return to your hotel with the afternoon free. This is a landscape outing, not a promise of particular birds or wildlife sightings.
Overnight: Tengchong or Heshun. Travel and walking: Around 1–1.5 hours of total driving; easy paths with a shorter option.
Have breakfast and depart for Tengchong Tuofeng Airport at the agreed time. A short local stop is possible only if the flight schedule leaves enough room; the standard plan prioritises an easy departure. If continuing by road to another western Yunnan city, arrange that transfer separately with its own travel allowance rather than treating it as an airport run.
