8-Day Tibet Group Tour: Everest, Siling Tso & Namtso
Overview
Combine Lhasa’s cultural landmarks, the Everest north-side visitor area and the northern lakes of Siling Tso and Namtso on this eight-day verotrip Tibet group itinerary. The circuit starts and finishes in Lhasa, travelling through Yamdrok Lake, Gyantse and Shigatse before returning across the northern plateau via Bange.
This is a driver-led sightseeing journey with seven nights of accommodation and an English-speaking Tibetan guide. The route includes a planned Rongbuk-area night, two separate nights in Shigatse and one night in Bange. Compared with a Lhasa-Everest return journey, its distinctive feature is the northern lake section on Days 6 and 7.
The source itinerary calls this an Ali small loop, but the scheduled sightseeing is around Lhasa, Shigatse, Everest and the northern lakes. It does not include the far-western Ngari highlights of Mount Kailash, Lake Manasarovar or Guge. The eight-day plan is compact and may need additional acclimatisation nights or a revised sequence for your needs.

Planning your journey
What this eight-day route covers
The core sequence is Lhasa, Yamdrok, Gyantse, Shigatse, Everest, Shigatse, Siling Tso, Bange, Namtso and Lhasa. It has one scheduled Lhasa sightseeing day and two substantial northern-lake road stages. Choose extra time if you prefer shorter days, additional city visits or a slower adjustment to altitude.
Permits and itinerary approval
For international travellers, the approved Tibet itinerary, Tibet entry documentation and any additional travel or border-area permissions must be arranged before travel. Passport, nationality, China entry status, arrival route and the exact road itinerary determine the required documents. Approval remains with the authorities. Allow an individual planning lead time; the short processing estimates in older itineraries are not a guarantee. Do not rely on the old brochure’s ten-working-day estimate or a guaranteed same-day permit stop in Shigatse. Arrival via Nepal requires a separate current entry assessment and is not included in this Lhasa-start package.
Altitude and the overnight plan
This is a demanding high-altitude itinerary, with Lhasa around 3,650 metres and some roads or visits approaching or exceeding 5,000 metres. Two initial nights do not guarantee acclimatisation. Seek pre-travel medical advice about the actual sleeping-altitude sequence, and add acclimatisation days if needed. Tell the guide promptly if unwell; do not continue ascending with altitude-illness symptoms. Oxygen provision does not replace acclimatisation or medical care. The Everest-area accommodation is especially high and basic; discuss a lower overnight alternative, extra acclimatisation nights or a different route before booking.
Hotels and the Everest-area stay
Seven nights are planned: Lhasa on Days 1, 2 and 7; Shigatse on Days 3 and 5; the Rongbuk area on Day 4; and Bange on Day 6. Town hotels and remote guest accommodation have different facilities. The Everest-area stay may be a seasonal tent guesthouse or an approved village alternative, not a guaranteed private en-suite hotel room.
Group vehicle and airport transfers
The touring vehicle is chosen for the confirmed group size and luggage, with an appointed driver. Airport transfers may be shared and operate around agreed collection windows; an off-schedule service can carry a supplement. Railway-station pickup is coordinated with the confirmed arrival. Obtain the current transfer schedule before buying tickets.
Meals and the village lunch
Seven hotel breakfasts are planned, subject to the chosen accommodation. Lunches and dinners are excluded. A family visit or lunch near Yamdrok may be arranged when hosts are available, but its cost is separate unless explicitly included; the brochure’s mention of the experience is not an all-inclusive meal promise.
Road days, walking and visibility
Treat Days 3-7 as substantial touring days. Checkpoints, weather, passes, local shuttles and photo stops affect the timing, so the brochure’s conflicting distances and times are not repeated as guarantees. Namtso walking can be shortened to an appropriate permitted lakeside visit; views of Everest, snow peaks and sunset depend on conditions.
Request your verotrip quotation
Send your preferred dates, number of travellers, room preferences, arrival and departure details, and any driving, walking or dietary requirements. Your quotation will confirm the actual services, availability and total price before booking.

Daily Itinerary

Meet the arrival team at the agreed airport or railway-station collection point and transfer to the hotel. The first day is reserved for settling in and resting after the journey. Your guide explains the upcoming route and checks that the documents and arrival details match the approved plan.
Avoid adding a busy sightseeing programme immediately after arrival at altitude. Shared airport collection follows the confirmed transfer arrangements, and waiting time may apply. If you require a private transfer outside the agreed windows, request it in advance as a separately quoted service.
Route: Lhasa airport or railway station → hotel
Overnight: Lhasa
Meals: Meals at your own expense

Visit the Potala Palace with your guide at the reserved entry time, then explore Jokhang Temple and the streets around Barkhor. Take the palace stairs slowly and allow breaks. These visits introduce the architecture, religious traditions and daily life that give Lhasa its distinctive character.
If time and your condition allow, a gentle stop at Longwangtan Park or a local sweet-tea house adds another view of the city. Temple appointments may change the order. The group’s wellbeing takes precedence over completing every optional stop, and further acclimatisation time can be discussed before the road stages.
Route: Lhasa city sightseeing
Overnight: Lhasa, second night
Meals: Breakfast; lunch and dinner at your own expense

Leave Lhasa with the driver and guide for the mountain road towards Yamdrok Lake. Pause at the established viewpoint above the lake, then continue through the lake-side landscape towards the Karola Glacier area. The day combines broad panoramas with quieter views of farms and settlements.
Pass through the Gyantse corridor before continuing to Shigatse. A village-family visit or farm lunch near Yamdrok is subject to host availability and confirmation, with the meal paid separately unless added to your quote. This is a full road day, so the group uses planned stops and a flexible pace.
Route: Lhasa → Yamdrok Lake → Karola → Gyantse → Shigatse
Overnight: Shigatse
Meals: Breakfast; lunch and dinner at your own expense

Travel towards Tingri after route permissions and operating conditions are confirmed. Stops at permitted viewpoints, including Gawu La when accessible, offer opportunities to see the Himalayan skyline. Continue towards the north-side Everest visitor area using the required local environmental transport.
The planned overnight near Rongbuk provides an opportunity to watch the mountain in evening light. This is a visitor-area experience, not access to a climbing expedition camp or the summit. Visibility is weather dependent. Accommodation, heating, washing facilities and any lower alternative are confirmed before departure.
Route: Shigatse → Tingri → Gawu La → Everest / Rongbuk
Overnight: Rongbuk-area accommodation or approved alternative
Meals: Breakfast; lunch and dinner at your own expense

Look for an early view of Everest if conditions are clear, then visit Rongbuk Monastery when open. Leave the high valley for the return journey to Shigatse. The detailed brochure proposes a Dingjie-Sakya corridor and Xilin viewpoint; those extra stops depend on the authorised route, road conditions and the available day.
Tashilhunpo Monastery is the planned cultural visit in Shigatse. Its timing must fit the confirmed arrival and entry hours; the guide may adjust the sequence within the approved itinerary. The brochure’s very short return-distance figure is not used as a travel-time promise for this long stage.
Route: Everest / Rongbuk → approved return corridor → Shigatse
Overnight: Shigatse
Meals: Breakfast; lunch and dinner at your own expense

Head towards the northern plateau through the Namling and Xainza corridor. The day crosses wide grasslands and increasingly open country before reaching the Siling Tso area. This is a salt-lake landscape, with big horizons and changing light rather than the freshwater-lake description found in the original brochure.
Use permitted viewpoints around Siling Tso and, where the route allows, the Bange lake area. Continue to Bange for an overnight in the confirmed local hotel. Bird and wildlife sightings are incidental; do not enter protected wetlands or approach animals for photographs.
Route: Shigatse → Namling → Xainza → Siling Tso → Bange
Overnight: Bange
Meals: Breakfast; lunch and dinner at your own expense

Continue to Namtso, with its open water and distant Nyenchen Tanglha mountain scenery. At the Tashi Peninsula, choose a measured walk along the permitted visitor paths, with time to pause by the limestone formations. The local shuttle and sightseeing order follow the day’s operating arrangements.
Return towards Lhasa through the Damxung corridor. A Laken La viewpoint stop is included in the plan when the selected road and conditions permit it. The Tashi Peninsula is distinct from Saint Elephant Gate on the lake’s north shore; this eight-day product does not promise both areas.
Route: Bange → Namtso / Tashi Peninsula → Damxung → Lhasa
Overnight: Lhasa
Meals: Breakfast; lunch and dinner at your own expense

Take the confirmed transfer from your hotel to Lhasa airport or railway station. The team coordinates collection with the booked service, allowing time for the road journey, document checks and check-in. Keep your travel documents accessible.
The included group transfer follows the agreed schedule. Extra hotel nights, private off-schedule transfers or onward arrangements can be added to your quotation. Your flight or train to the next destination is separate from this eight-day ground itinerary.
Route: Lhasa hotel → airport or railway station
