Overview
Begin in Dunhuang and follow the Silk Road heritage sites through Jiayuguan and Zhangye, then continue by train and road into Qinghai. This seven-day route ends in Xining after Chaka Salt Lake and a Ta’er Monastery visit when the departure schedule allows. The central transfer day is busy, so the train, lake stop and Chaka overnight must be planned together.

Daily Itinerary
Arrive in Dunhuang by flight or high speed train. Explore Dunhuang on your own.
Check the arrival station and transfer arrangements, then settle into the hotel. Independent exploration remains optional; the timed Mogao Caves visit belongs to the following day's confirmed programme rather than the arrival evening.
Visit Mogao Cave housing thousands of Buddhist cave paintings and sculptures; and Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Moon Spring.
The Mogao ticket time determines the visiting order, while the desert visit responds to the weather. Confirm which admissions are included and treat camel rides or other activities as optional unless itemised in the quotation.
Drive from Dunhuang to Jiayuguan, visit Jiayuguan's attractions - Overhanging Great Wall, Jiayuguan Pass.
Leave time for the drive as well as the pass and wall visits. Discuss stairs and walking ability before the Overhanging Great Wall section, and confirm which site tickets are included in the group departure.
Head to Zhangye to view the colorful landscape of rainbow-hued sandstone formations. And visit Dafo Temple in Zhangye city.
Use the scenic area's transport and selected viewpoints for the Danxia visit, with Dafo Temple arranged around its confirmed visiting time. The day's light and weather influence the landform colours, so the programme does not guarantee a particular photograph.
Transfer to Qinghai Province from Zhangye to Xining by high speed train. Be escorted to Qinghai Lake and accommodate in Chaka Town.
A train arrival, a lake stop and the drive to Chaka all share this day. The final itinerary needs a workable rail connection and a selected lake visiting area; it should not imply a full lake circuit after a late arrival in Xining.
Have great time to explore Chaka Salt Lake, visit Mirror of the Sky Scenic Area.
Follow the booked visiting route at Chaka and confirm any internal scenic transport before entering. After the lake visit, return toward Xining with time for comfort stops; reflections and visibility remain dependent on the day's conditions.
Explore Ta'er Monastery before depart from Xining.
Choose an onward departure late enough for the monastery visit and transfer. If the ticket schedule does not allow this, move the visit or revise the itinerary before payment rather than compressing both into a short morning.
