Overview

Travel overland from Lhasa to Kathmandu in seven days, with two Lhasa sightseeing days before the route through Shigatse and the Everest area to Gyirong. The programme finishes across the border in Nepal rather than returning to Lhasa.

Duration: 7 days. Route: Lhasa – Shigatse – Everest Base Camp – Gyirong – Kathmandu.

This itinerary depends on the current border operating arrangements and the traveller’s required documents. Confirm the Tibet and Nepal portions, vehicle changes, guide handover and onward accommodation before booking. Border delays and mountain-road conditions mean an international flight should not be scheduled immediately after the crossing.

Upon arrival in Lhasa, our tour guide will meet you at the airport/train station and take you to hotel in Lhasa. In the rest of the day, please rest well and adapt to the altitude.

Visit the Drepung Monastery in the morning, in the afternoon, visit the Sera Monastery and watch the monks’ debate activities.

Visit the Potala Palace, and participate in local Tibetan folk activities in the Local Park under the palace; Visit the Jokhang Temple and Barkor Street. Visit a local sweet-tea house to experience everyday life in Lhasa.

Depart from Lhasa and head west to Gyantse, pass by Yamdrok Yumco Lake, visit rural families by the lake and enjoy farm lunch. Visit Karola Glacier and barley fields near Gyantse.

Visit Tashilunpo Monastery before heading to the Himalayas. Enjoy the beautiful scenery of Mount Everest and the Himalayas at the Dingri View point and the Gawula View point. Enjoy the beautiful sunset of Mount Everest (subject to weather conditions).

In the morning, enjoy the high-mountain views of Everest and visit the Rongbuk Monastery. Proceed to the border town of Kyirong, passing through the forest, canyons, and snow-capped mountains along the way.

In the morning, your Tibetan guide will see you off at the border. Our Nepalese staff will welcome you at the border if you book border to Kathmandu transfer with us(60 USD extra).

The exact meeting point, local contact, check-in time and late-arrival rule must appear in the final voucher. Do not rely on a city name alone; confirm whether hotel pickup is included and how long the guide will wait.

Confirm transport, guide service, entrance tickets, meals, hotel nights and room basis, plus any shuttle, cableway, show or activity supplement. The final quotation should also state tips, optional activities and personal expenses that remain excluded.

International visitors need the operator to coordinate the current Tibet travel documents using valid passport and visa details. The itinerary must also allow gradual acclimatization, explain the highest sleeping altitude and keep a lower-intensity alternative if a traveller feels unwell.

The 7-day route follows Lhasa → Shigatse → Everest Base Camp → Gyirong → Kathmandu. Ask for estimated road, rail or flight time on every transfer day and avoid adding fixed evening activities after a long connection.

Suitability depends on vehicle access, steps, standing time, toilets and the group pace. Share ages, mobility aids and rest needs before booking; a shared departure cannot always slow down, while a private alternative may offer more flexibility.

Ask for the deposit schedule, cancellation scale, minimum group rule, single-room supplement and the deadline for passport details. If the departure is not confirmed, the operator should state when the decision is made and what refund or alternative applies.
