The day is primarily a transfer into the Meili Snow Mountain region, with rest stops and changing altitude included in the pace. Check in at Feilaisi before dark where possible, ready for the trailhead transfer and hike into Yubeng the next day.
Leave Feilaisi for the confirmed trailhead near Ninong, then begin the hike into Yubeng. The vehicle meeting point, luggage arrangements and current trail access need to be settled before setting out. Pace the ascent for the group and continue to Upper Yubeng for the overnight, which places the following Ice Lake hike in the correct part of the route.
Leave Upper Yubeng Village for the out-and-back hike toward Ice Lake, using the accessible trail and turnaround point suitable for the group's condition. Mountain weather, altitude and trail conditions determine how far the hike can safely continue. Return to Upper Yubeng for the night so the dedicated Meili Snow Mountain route can exit through Ninong and drive back to Lijiang the following day.
Leave Yubeng on the agreed exit trail and meet the vehicle at the confirmed trailhead. Allow time for the descent, luggage and rest before the onward drive to Lijiang. Weather and trail conditions can affect the walking stage, so begin early and keep the return day free of extra sightseeing. Arrange any onward flight or train with a generous buffer, or stay overnight in Lijiang.
