Overview
Give Kunming two days with different rhythms: a central lakeside walk around Green Lake, followed by the woodland and architectural setting of Golden Temple park. This suggested short stay is for travellers who prefer a focused outing each day to a sequence of long transfers and distant attractions.
The route begins and finishes in Kunming and includes one overnight stop in the city. It is distinct from a longer Kunming programme that adds the Stone Forest, Western Hills or other regional excursions. Choose the walking route and the amount of structured explanation around your group, with time left to rest.

Route Map
Follow the itinerary in travel order.
Route schematic; not to scale or for navigation. See the Daily Itinerary for individual visits, optional activities and access conditions.
Two days, two settings
| Day | Suggested focus | Overnight |
|---|---|---|
| Day 1 | A selected Green Lake walk and an unhurried central-city break | Kunming; accommodation arrangement to be specified separately. |
| Day 2 | Golden Temple park: woodland setting and selected architectural areas | No hotel night after the agreed finish. |
Green Lake suits an introduction to everyday city life. Choose a manageable part of the park, with time to sit by the water rather than treating every path as an obligation. The experience changes with weather and season; a particular bird sighting, flower display or public performance is not guaranteed.
Golden Temple, in Kunming’s northeastern outskirts, adds a different landscape. Its bronze hall and surrounding wooded setting make the second day more than another lake walk. The precise visitor route, entrance and any steps should be discussed before the outing. A park visit does not imply access to every adjoining attraction.
Who this short stay suits
Consider this plan for a first arrival in Yunnan, a pause between longer journeys or a group with mixed energy levels. There is room to keep the first day light after travel. It is not designed as a promise that all ground is flat or that the second day can fit into any flight connection.
Tell us how long you are comfortable walking, whether you need frequent seating and which steps or gradients you must avoid. A slower schedule helps, but it does not remove the need for an appropriate route. If required access cannot be confirmed, discuss a different outing before booking.
Make the overnight useful
Choose the hotel location around your arrival and the following day’s meeting point, not just a map label saying “Kunming.” Avoid moving hotels for a single city night unless your transport needs make it worthwhile. Share luggage count and any hotel-access requirements if you request a vehicle.
After the first day’s walk, keep the evening free for dinner and rest. On the second day, protect any fixed onward train or flight by agreeing the sightseeing finish in advance. An optional extra should be omitted if it puts the departure at risk.
Shape the day around your group
Price on request. Send your travel date, party size, hotel area and preferred language to Vero Trip. Describe any steps you need to avoid, how long you are comfortable walking and whether you want historical explanation, photography time or a lighter outing. A fixed train or flight departure should be discussed before the route is agreed.
Your written proposal will identify the meeting and finishing points, any arranged vehicle and driver, guiding language and duration, admission arrangements and the total price. Meals, internal scenic transport and other requested extras should be specified individually. A stop in this route description does not by itself include its admission or a guide.
The route has one overnight stop in Kunming. Accommodation may be arranged independently or requested in your proposal; no named hotel, room category or meal plan is included by this description.
Questions before choosing the route
Is the hotel included?
No hotel booking is established by this description. Arrange the one Kunming night independently or request a quoted accommodation option.
Does this include the Stone Forest or Western Hills?
No. Those places would change the focus and travel time. Compare a longer Kunming itinerary if they are priorities.
Can the walking be adapted?
Describe the actual requirement before booking. The proposal should identify a workable route rather than rely on a general “easy” label.
Compare the settings in the Kunming parks and gardens guide, then discuss your arrival, overnight and departure through Plan My Trip.
Arrange this route as a private car tour
Two city days with one Kunming night between them, separating the central park visit from the Golden Temple outing.
Give the Golden Temple hill and park the second day rather than repeatedly crossing the city. Keep one hotel and agree whether the driver returns each morning rather than assuming overnight vehicle use.
| Part | Agree for this route |
|---|---|
| Route and nights | Kunming → Kunming. 1 hotel night between the touring days; property, room and inclusion follow the written proposal. |
| Pickup and finish | Exact hotel, station or airport; legal loading point, final walk and any outlying-area supplement. |
| Vehicle and driver | Passenger seats, suitcase capacity, child seats if requested, duty window, waiting and communication plan. |
| Separate services | Guiding language, attraction tickets, local shuttles, meals and host appointments only when itemised. |
| Road and booking terms | Fuel, tolls, parking, driver overnight expenses if relevant, changes, delays and cancellation terms. |
This collection is primarily for travel with a driver. The vehicle remains on legal roads and uses permitted drop-off points. Your driver and an accompanying sightseeing guide perform different duties. Request interpretation and walking accompaniment explicitly when you need them. A private car does not imply unlimited hours, an English-speaking guide, reserved admission or access to a closed area.
For self-drive instead, arrange a separately accepted rental, suitable driving authorisation, security payment, vehicle protection and the exact return branch. The day order can inform that plan, but the road service described here is not a car-rental contract. Tell us which arrangement you want before a written offer is prepared.
Send your dates, exact arrival and departure, number of adults, children’s ages, luggage and comfortable walking level. Keep essential documents with you and leave enough time for the final transfer. The accepted proposal identifies the actual operator, services and applicable booking conditions before you confirm.
Compare the driver and self-drive choices in how to rent a car in Kunming, then request your dated journey.
Daily Itinerary
Begin in Kunming at the time and meeting point agreed around your arrival. If an airport or railway transfer is requested, keep that arrangement separate from the time available for sightseeing. A late arrival may call for a shorter park section rather than an attempt to recover every planned stop.
Visit a selected Green Lake area at an ordinary walking pace. Pause beside the water, notice how the park is used by local residents and leave space for photographs without blocking the paths. Choose the loop around comfort and available seating; there is no need to circle every part of the lake.
Take a seated meal or refreshment break according to your own preferences. Settle into the hotel chosen for the single Kunming night and leave the evening for dinner and rest. Food, drinks and accommodation should be specified separately if you ask Vero Trip to include them in a proposal.
Route: Agreed Kunming meeting point → selected Green Lake area → break → Kunming overnight.
Overnight: Kunming, one night; accommodation arrangement to be specified.
Meals: By your own arrangement unless listed in the proposal.
Travel to the agreed Golden Temple park entrance using the transport plan specified for your group. Check the current visitor arrangements before setting off. The park's woodland and the bronze-hall setting offer a contrast to the first day's central lakeside walk.
Follow the chosen visitor route, making time for the architectural details and a rest rather than covering every possible section. Agree the amount of stepped or rising walking beforehand. Seasonal colours, flowers and a particular weather view are possibilities, not scheduled inclusions.
Keep a seated break and a definite finishing time. If you are leaving Kunming afterward, allow for the entire journey to the correct railway station or airport, together with the entry and boarding requirements. Finish the sightseeing early enough to protect that plan; an additional stop is a separate request.
Route: Kunming → selected Golden Temple park route → agreed city or transport-connection finish.
Overnight: None after the agreed finish.
Meals: By your own arrangement unless listed in the proposal.
