Overview
Begin and finish in Lhasa, with two nights in Nyingchi between the city visits and two lake excursions. Basum Tso, Lulang and Kading Valley give this eight-day tour an eastern Tibet focus. Choose it if you want forests and lakes without adding the Everest-area overnight.
This Lhasa-based journey does not include Bomi, Shigatse or Everest. It differs from the existing Nyingchi-to-Lhasa group routes in both its start point and overnight pattern.

The detailed daily programme below explains the visits and transfers. The sequence is adapted to actual reservations, road conditions and the permitted route. If a closure requires a different programme, the change and its cost implications belong in the agreed travel confirmation.
Transport and the smaller-party option
The touring vehicle is allocated to the party size from the proposed 9–17-seat vehicle range, with driver, fuel and road tolls. Ask for the actual seating and luggage capacity, especially with large suitcases. A vehicle class is not a promise of a named model or airline-style seat on every departure.
Smaller private parties can have a different arrangement. For fewer than four travellers, city visits may use taxis with the guide rather than a dedicated sightseeing vehicle; airport and railway-station transfers are arranged separately within the agreed transfer scope. Have the quote distinguish city transport, regional touring and those arrival/departure transfers.

Accommodation and meals
| Location | Hotel nights | Comfort decision |
|---|---|---|
| Lhasa | 5 | Confirm the actual room, bed arrangement, heating and bathroom. |
| Nyingchi | 2 | Oxygen supply is not promised for this regional stay; confirm the actual room facilities. |
Standard accommodation and an upgraded Lhasa option can be quoted. Hotel examples are not a guarantee of a particular property, official international star rating or room category. A mountain guesthouse or Everest-area hotel has different facilities from a city hotel. Agree the actual stay and oxygen arrangements rather than assuming every room has oxygen.
Hotel breakfasts are included after the relevant hotel nights. Lunches and dinners are separate except for complimentary meals itemised in your confirmation. The meal benefits for this route can include a welcome dinner and Nyingchi stone-pot chicken. A very small private party may receive one selected meal rather than the full set; the quotation specifies the actual arrangement.
Tell us about halal food, vegetarian preferences, allergies and prayer needs before booking. A Tibetan meal or hot pot is not automatically halal. Discuss acceptable alternatives, meal locations and time for prayer; this page does not promise certified halal kitchens or dedicated prayer rooms along the route.

Package scope and your quotation
Price on request. Send your dates, number of travellers, passport nationalities, room preference and guiding language. The quote will specify currency, per-person basis, room sharing, transport and the applicable single-room supplement. No fixed departure date or live seat availability is stated here.
| Category | Package scope |
|---|---|
| Transport | Regional touring vehicle, driver, fuel and tolls; arrival/departure transfers within the agreed programme. |
| Accommodation | 7 hotel nights in the locations above. |
| Visits and documents | Admissions to Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Basum Tso, Lulang Forest, Kading Valley, Yamdrok and Namtso. Ask whether Rituo charges and internal visitor transport are included in your quote. Required Tibet-document applications are handled; issue remains subject to the authorities. |
| Guide and staff costs | Guide service, with the language stated in the quote; driver and guide meals/accommodation within the programme. |
| Meals | Hotel breakfasts and only the complimentary meals itemised in the confirmation. |
| Category | Separate cost or decision |
|---|---|
| Travel outside the package | Flights and trains into and out of Tibet. |
| Meals and personal costs | Lunches, dinners and drinks except itemised complimentary meals; laundry, personal purchases and other personal expenses. |
| Rooms and preferences | Single occupancy or a room-sharing shortfall; any specifically requested upgrade not included in the quote. |
| Tips and changes | Driver/guide gratuities, plus additional services or costs outside the agreed programme. |
| Personal insurance | Do not assume operator or vehicle liability cover includes your personal medical, evacuation or high-altitude risks. Request the actual policy and arrange suitable cover. |
Request the applicable insurance wording, insured persons, exclusions and assistance contact with the quote. Oxygen carried in a vehicle and hotel oxygen facilities are limited support, not a substitute for medical assessment or evacuation cover. Any photo experience, drone flight or extra activity must be expressly included and lawful; it is not added to this package merely because it is possible at a destination.

Before you book the highland journey
Have the receiving agency establish the required Tibet permissions for your nationality, entry basis and exact itinerary before buying non-refundable transport. China visa exemption, where applicable, does not replace Tibet travel approval. There is no guaranteed permit outcome or universal processing deadline.
Obtain individual medical advice before travel. Altitude illness can affect fit travellers. Do not ascend to sleep higher with symptoms; seek help and descend if symptoms worsen. Bring warm layers, sun protection and manageable luggage, and discuss children’s ages, mobility, stairs and long road days before choosing this itinerary.
The Potala Palace notice provides for Monday closure from 21 September 2026, except statutory holidays. Reservations and current notices determine the actual visiting order. Weather and road conditions can also change mountain and lake visits; an alternative must fit the accepted itinerary and the traveller’s condition.

Daily Itinerary
Meet the arranged transfer at Lhasa airport or railway station and continue to your hotel. Keep the rest of the day light rather than adding sightseeing after the journey. Share your exact arrival details before travel so the meeting point, contact and transfer arrangement are included in your confirmation.
Stay: Lhasa. Meals: Meals at your own expense.
Visit the Potala Palace at the allocated appointment, then explore the Jokhang Temple and the lanes around Barkhor. There are steps, standing and walking at altitude, so discuss a lighter pace if needed. The order can change around reservations and the palace’s Monday closure, with statutory-holiday exceptions. Respect worshippers and follow the rules for photography inside religious buildings.
Stay: Lhasa. Meals: Hotel breakfast; other meals at your own expense except itemised complimentary meals.
Travel east from Lhasa towards Basum Tso in Gongbo’gyamda, then continue to Nyingchi. The lake visit brings forested slopes, mountain water and the island temple into the same day. Use the designated visitor route and transport arranged for the visit. This is a transfer day with sightseeing, rather than a full day based beside the lake.
Stay: Nyingchi. Meals: Hotel breakfast; other meals at your own expense except itemised complimentary meals.
Make a return outing from Nyingchi towards Lulang, with the Sejila viewpoint on the planned road. Look for Namjagbarwa when the clouds allow, then spend time around the forest and pastoral landscapes. The peak can remain hidden, so the day’s value is the wider landscape rather than a guaranteed mountain photograph. Return to the same Nyingchi hotel for the night.
Stay: Nyingchi. Meals: Hotel breakfast; other meals at your own expense except itemised complimentary meals.
Visit Kading Valley for its forested gorge and waterfall, then return towards Lhasa. Wear shoes suitable for paths and steps, and take the walk at a comfortable pace. Keep the evening simple after the road journey. The waterfall, lake and mountain visits on this route are separate outings, with different walking and weather conditions.
Stay: Lhasa. Meals: Hotel breakfast; other meals at your own expense except itemised complimentary meals.
Travel from Lhasa to the Yamdrok Lake area, using the viewpoints and visitor stops allowed for the day. Continue to Rituo Monastery on its lakeside peninsula before returning to Lhasa. The changing water colour and mountain backdrop depend on light and weather. Monastery access and any photography arrangements follow local rules; drone flying is not an unrestricted activity.
Stay: Lhasa. Meals: Hotel breakfast; other meals at your own expense except itemised complimentary meals.
Leave Lhasa for the northern grassland and Namtso excursion, then return to Lhasa for the night. This is another high-altitude road day, not a lowland recovery outing. Warm layers, sun protection and a willingness to shorten the visit matter more than collecting every viewpoint. Snow, ice or access restrictions can lead to a revised Lhasa-based programme.
Stay: Lhasa. Meals: Hotel breakfast; other meals at your own expense except itemised complimentary meals.
After hotel breakfast, take the arranged transfer to Lhasa airport or railway station for your booked departure. Send the actual flight or train details before the trip, including luggage needs and any onward connection. A transfer is included within the agreed programme; the flight or railway ticket into or out of Tibet is a separate cost.
Stay: No overnight included. Meals: Hotel breakfast; other meals at your own expense except itemised complimentary meals.
