Overview
Travel from Lijiang through the Yunnan–Sichuan highlands to Wudi Lake and Daocheng Yading on a three-day verotrip small-group journey for two to six guests. Two nights in Shangri-La Town, Daocheng County, place you near the park for a long-route hiking day and a shorter Pearl Lake visit.
The itinerary is compact and physically demanding. Days one and three involve long drives; day two aims for Luorong Pasture, Milk Lake and, when access and personal condition allow, Five-Color Lake. It suits travellers who understand high-altitude hiking and can arrive rested and appropriately acclimatised. A vehicle, trip leader and informal travel photography support the journey.
Two different places share the name Shangri-La on this route: Shangri-La city in Yunnan is passed on the approach, while the two overnight stays are in Shangri-La Town in Sichuan’s Daocheng County. The tour returns to Lijiang, and an additional night there after the tour is recommended before onward travel.

Planning your journey
Hiking suitability
The programme estimates roughly 10 km return and six to eight hours for the long route from Luorong, with the highest section around 4,700 metres. These are planning estimates, not a personal completion target. The leader must be able to shorten or cancel the high section for access, weather, time or fitness. Seek qualified medical advice before high-altitude travel if you have health concerns.
Season and park transport
Milk Lake and Five-Color Lake access can close because of snow, weather or maintenance. Their opening must be checked for your departure. The main admission and scenic-area shuttle/electric-cart charges are different items; internal park transport is excluded from the booked package.
Long drives and return planning
Arrive in Lijiang at least the day before where possible. The final arrival can be late and is not a safe basis for a tight flight or train connection. Stay in Lijiang after the tour and travel onward the next day. The last Lijiang hotel night is not included.

Two twin-share nights are arranged in a selected hotel or guesthouse in Shangri-La Town, Sichuan. Exact property, rooming, English-language support and insurance eligibility are confirmed before booking. Daily Itinerary
Depart Lijiang in the morning at the confirmed meeting time and travel via Shangri-La in Yunnan towards Wudi Lake. Walk a suitable lakeshore section, with time for photographs of the water, forest and highland pastures when access and weather permit.
Continue through the Yunnan–Sichuan highlands, using permitted viewpoints and village stops according to road progress. The plan includes an Echu Mountain viewpoint opportunity, subject to access and visibility. Reach Shangri-La Town in Daocheng County in the evening and rest before the following day’s park visit.

Start early for Yading Scenic Area. Use the park shuttle to Zhaguanbeng, walk to the transfer point and take the electric cart towards Luorong Pasture when operating. These internal transport tickets are separate from the main admission included in the booked package.
From Luorong, begin the demanding walk towards Milk Lake. Continue to Five-Color Lake only if the route is open and the weather, your condition and turnaround time allow. The trip leader coordinates rests and photo stops; reaching the highest lake is not guaranteed. Return to the same town for the second night.

Re-enter the park early for the shorter route from Zhaguanbeng past Chonggu Monastery towards Pearl Lake. In clear conditions, the lake offers views towards Xiannairi. The plan estimates roughly three kilometres return and two to three hours including sightseeing, adjusted to the open trail and your pace.
After the visit, leave the park for the long return drive to Lijiang. Road conditions, queues and the duration of the morning visit can make arrival late. Arrange a Lijiang overnight stay separately and keep onward flights or trains for the following day.
