Overview
Quick Answer
3 days from Chuanzhusi back to Chuanzhusi. Long approach through Kakagou.

Two camp nights keep you close to the mountain landscape. verotrip prepares the local transport, camp support and trail-food arrangements as a connected trek, with the pass and lake visits conditional on the ground conditions.

Good to Know Before You Go
Activity level: Very challenging
This version exits through Awengou after Hongxing Lake. It does not continue through the Emerald Lakes and Tazigou. The first two days are substantial walks, so short duration should not be read as low difficulty.

Daily Itinerary
Meet in Chuanzhusi and transfer to Kakagou, where the local mountain guide joins the party. Follow the valley upstream through pasture and forest before the terrain narrows between higher slopes. The approach is long, so keep food and rain protection accessible. Reach the Changhai camp in the afternoon and settle into tents, leaving time to organize the next day’s walking kit.
Overnight: Changhai camp
Today’s pace: Approximately 20 km; around 8 hours

Walk beside Changhai before climbing toward the pass, around 4,200 metres on the planned route. The views open over the surrounding basins, followed by a descent on uneven and sometimes loose ground into Awengou. Continue through pasture and forest toward Yuhai. Pass the grassy Caohai basin and continue to the lower Hongxing camp.
Overnight: Lower Hongxing camp
Today’s pace: Approximately 17 km; around 7 hours

Make the guided approach toward Hongxing Lake after breakfast if weather and footing are suitable. Spend time at the lake before returning to the lower camp, collecting equipment and descending toward the Awengou road. The vehicle returns to Chuanzhusi after the party regroups. A Huanglongjiuzhai station transfer can be discussed, with sufficient margin for the variable mountain finish.
Overnight: Not included; Chuanzhusi night recommended
Today’s pace: Approximately 10 km; around 5 hours
