Daily Itinerary

Arrive in Dandong and meet your private guide. Settle in, then enjoy a relaxed walk along the Yalu River promenade and view the historic steel bridge from the Chinese waterfront.

Leave Dandong along the mountain section of Highway 331. Pause for river-valley viewpoints and wooded landscapes around Hushan before continuing to Kuandian.

Follow the Hunjiang River to its dramatic Great Bend and stop at high viewpoints above the forested valley. Continue to Ji'an and discover the area's World Heritage mountain-city remains in their natural setting.

Travel through Tonghua and the forested foothills of the Changbai range. Arrive near Changbai Mountain with time for a gentle local walk and preparation for the next day's exploration.

Explore Changbai Mountain's volcanic landscapes and, when conditions permit, look across Tianchi crater lake. Continue through the basalt cliffs, waterfalls and forest paths of Wangtian'e Valley.

Drive through wooded mountain country toward Helong and Yanji. Enjoy changing rural scenery and arrive in Yanji for an introduction to the city's distinctive Korean-Chinese food culture.

Start with a lively local market and continue through Yanji's parks, neighborhoods and food streets. The day focuses on everyday culture, regional cuisine and an unhurried city experience.

Travel to Hunchun and explore the reed marshes, waterways and bird habitat around Fangchuan and Jingxin Wetland. Enjoy broad landscape views before returning to Hunchun.

Cross the forested hills of eastern Jilin and Heilongjiang toward Suifenhe. Arrive in this historic railway city and walk among its preserved early twentieth-century architecture.

Discover Suifenhe's railway-era streets, then continue through the wooded valleys around Dongning. The day emphasizes regional history, mountain scenery and local town life.

Travel north via the volcanic lake scenery of Jingpo Lake, with time for shoreline views and forest walks. Continue across Heilongjiang's agricultural plains to Jiamusi.

Follow the river country east toward Fuyuan. Visit the East Pole landscape near sunrise or sunset and enjoy the immense confluence, wetland and big-sky scenery.

Explore the wetland environment around Heixiazi Island, with reed beds, river channels and seasonal birdlife. Learn about local Hezhen fishing traditions and taste regional river cuisine.

Travel west through Jiamusi and into the forest country of the Lesser Khingan Mountains. Arrive in Yichun for a quiet evening surrounded by red-pine landscapes.

Spend the day in Yichun's forest parks, walking among old-growth red pine, clear streams and granite formations. Seasonal colors make this one of the journey's most photogenic nature days.

Continue north through expansive forest and farming country to Heihe. On arrival, stroll along the Amur River waterfront and enjoy the city's relaxed evening atmosphere.

Explore Aihui Old Town and Heihe's riverfront history, then begin the drive into the Greater Khingan Mountains. Continue through deep forest to Tahe.

Follow the northern forest road toward Mohe and the remote village of Beihong. Stop for wetlands, birch woodland and broad river views along the way.

Explore Arctic Village and the riverside paths of China's far north, then continue through surrounding forest and wetland scenery. Visit Beihong Village for a quieter view of northern rural life.

See the sweeping curves of the Nine Bends and Eighteen Turns wetland and, when time permits, the Heilongjiang headwater scenery near Luoguhe. Transfer to Mohe airport or railway station for departure.
