Maijishan from Xi’an by Rail: Grottoes & a Tianshui Choice
Overview
Use a date-specific rail connection to Tianshui for a day centred on Maijishan Grottoes. The mountain’s visitor route and return train are the priorities. Fuxi Temple is a possible second city visit when the actual train times, local transfer and grottoes route leave enough time, rather than an automatic addition to every departure.

Your route at a glance
| Part | Plan | Overnight |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Xi’an → Tianshui by booked train → Maijishan → optional Fuxi Temple → return train | No hotel night in a day-return plan |
What makes this route work
The train journey ends at a Tianshui station, not at the grottoes. Include the local road transfer and site approach in both directions. Maijishan has elevated cliff walkways and stairs, so the route is an important physical choice. A specially accessed cave or research area is not included.

Choose the pace and optional elements
Travellers uncomfortable with heights should discuss a ground-level option before booking. Weather, maintenance or visitor management may change the available cliff route. If the train window is too short, stay overnight in Tianshui instead of promising both the grottoes and temple in a rushed day.
Meeting, meals and the service agreement
| Item | Planning basis |
|---|---|
| Start and finish | Xi’an → Xi’an. The written plan names the actual meeting and final drop-off points. |
| Duration and nights | 1 Day. 0 hotel nights between the touring days; accommodation is included only when specified in the confirmation. |
| Meals and dietary requirements | Meal stops follow the route. The restaurant, dietary standard and any included meal are specified separately; photographs do not establish a kitchen’s preparation practices. |
| Guiding and transport | Guide language, vehicle or shared arrangement, intercity tickets, internal shuttles and admissions are identified individually in the dated proposal. |
Use this as a route for a date-specific proposal. Tell us your dates, party size, luggage, walking needs and food requirements before services are selected. Only the services specified in the written confirmation form part of the arrangement. Personal travel insurance, immigration requirements and independent travel to or from the route need their own arrangements.

Daily Itinerary
Xi’an → Tianshui by booked train → Maijishan → optional Fuxi Temple → return train
Travel to the correct Xi’an station and take the reserved service to Tianshui. Meet the local arrangement and transfer to Maijishan, following the current admission and visitor route. Choose the cliff walkway only if it suits your party and is operating; a shorter ground-level visit is a different experience to agree in advance. Take lunch and decide on Fuxi Temple from the actual remaining hours. Return to the booked station with time for document checks and the train to Xi’an.
Stay: No hotel night in a day-return plan. Meals: as specified in the dated itinerary; a meal stop in this outline is not an automatic meal inclusion.
