Qin & Han Archaeology Day: Terracotta Warriors and Hanyangling

Home / China Tours / Qin & Han Archaeology Day: Terracotta Warriors and Hanyangling
Duration 1 Day
Route Xi’an
Entry City Xi’an
Exit City Xi’an

Overview

Compare two imperial burial traditions in one archaeology-focused day: the Qin Terracotta Warriors near Lintong and the Han-period setting at Hanyangling. The interest is in different scales, figures and approaches to the afterlife, rather than adding a city food crawl. Road transfers between the sites make this a full day with two distinct admission arrangements.

Your route at a glance

Part Plan Overnight
1 Xi’an → Terracotta Warriors → meal and transfer → Hanyangling → Xi’an No hotel night

What makes this route work

Choose the main display areas at each site and protect time for the transfer and lunch. Hanyangling is not Lishan Garden, and neither is the Qinhan branch of Shaanxi History Museum. Keep the Chinese site names with the booking so the driver and tickets refer to the same places.

Choose the pace and optional elements

A conservation workshop, restoration-centre visit or access behind museum barriers is not part of the standard visitor route. Such access is not promised here. If the party prefers a slower museum visit, split the two sites across separate days rather than rushing both.

Daily Itinerary

Xi’an → Terracotta Warriors → meal and transfer → Hanyangling → Xi’an

Begin at the Terracotta Warriors with its reserved entry and original identity document. Select the main excavation halls, then leave enough time for lunch and the drive towards Hanyangling. Follow the latter’s currently available visitor route and displays, comparing its Han-period material with the Qin army rather than expecting another identical hall of life-size soldiers. A special conservation or restoration session is outside this outline. Return to the agreed Xi’an point after the second visit; keep any onward terminal transfer separate.

Stay: No hotel night. Meals: as specified in the dated itinerary; a meal stop in this outline is not an automatic meal inclusion.
